Hey, how can we help you today?

Interactive TAB

Our player shows you beautiful standard notation and tablature right in your web browser. No plugins or apps necessary. It works in any modern browser, including tablets and smartphones. Play and pause a score by clicking the Play button or pressing the spacebar. The notation will light up in real time, as the music plays. Jump to to a particular moment in the audio by clicking on the notation. Loop sections easily by clicking and dragging across the notation. It snaps to the nearest note, rest or barline, for ease of making “perfect” loops. Slow down the audio, without changing pitch, using the slider at lower left. Depending on your browser, we support speeds as slow as 25%. Enable a metronome count-in by clicking the arrow next to the Play button and selecting “Play with count-in.” By default, playback is always looped. To disable looping, click the arrow next to the Play button and select “Play once.”
We believe you learn music better if you hear it while you read it — so Soundslice makes it easy to sync notation with real recordings. A Soundslice score can have multiple audio sources — say, a rhythm/backing track vs. a lead track, or videos with multiple camera angles, or several different performances of the same piece. Toggle the audio source using the menu at lower right. You can even change it in real time, while the audio is playing, and our player will keep track of where you are in the music. There’s no limit on number of audio sources. Use our synth player to hear computer-generated but “perfect” audio of the score. This, combined with our slow-down feature, is useful for fast passages in which the “real” recording is muddled or distorted. Use the metronome in the Settings menu to hear a rhythmic pulse perfectly timed with the synth player.
Soundslice pioneered the concept of “responsive” notation — music that wraps to fit your screen. Unlike in a PDF, Soundslice’s zooming features are notation-aware. That means, if you make the score bigger or smaller, we’ll intelligently fit just the right amount of music on each stave, re-rendering on the fly. This is possible because our music-engraving engine is tailor-made and runs entirely in your web browser. Zoom in and out via the Settings menu, and you’ll see the music wraps appropriately. Transpose the entire score into other keys instantly using our transposition feature. Yes, we even transpose tab, making best guesses for fingerings.
With support for multiple instruments/staves, Soundslice can handle anything from a piano’s grand staff to a string quartet or a full jazz band’s arrangement. Click a track’s name to the left of its notation to access track-specific controls. Show/hide standard notation, tablature, stemmed tablature, lyrics or chord names for a given track by clicking the appropriate buttons. To hide a track completely, hide each element. If your score has chords in it, don’t miss our chord chart view. Activate it by hiding the standard notation and tablature. (Read more.) Transpose notation for non-concert-pitch instruments, such as clarinets, using our transposition feature. Select the key and octave of your instrument, and the notation will instantly transpose. Change a track’s synth sound and volume, choosing from 69 instrument sounds. Mute or change volume on a per-track basis.
Our notation can be synced with videos, sourced from YouTube, Vimeo or any other video hosting service that allows access to its MP4s. You can also upload video directly to us. Quickly resize videos by dragging the gray bar between video and notation. Our notation will automatically compensate. Slow down videos, without changing pitch, using the same controls you use for our audio player.
Are you more of a visual learner? Use our interactive fretboard to see a graphical view of where notes should be played on your instrument. For fretted instruments, such as guitar, electric bass or mandolin, use our interactive fretboard. During playback, the notes light up in real time. Otherwise, the fretboard highlights all notes you’ve selected in the notation.
