The backing tracks in this pack are created for both beginners and advanced soloist, and could even work well not just for guitarists but other instrumentalists such as saxophonists.
These backing tracks encourages you to “sing” your notes rather than whizz up and down memorized scales or complicated techniques. Choosing the right notes at the right moment is key here! This can often be challenging but try to play in such way that a single note means something to both the player and the listener. The essence of playing over a slow and smooth jazzy or pop track is to train yourself to first gain, and then manipulate the emotion of the audience. Try to tell a story through your notes.
The chords are (most the most part) basic, common progression, representing an “old story” that has been told over and over for many generations. Your challenge is to re-tell those stories in your own way, to make it interesting and capture the listener’s heart & emotion, beginning with your own.
Tone wise, feel free to use what ever kind of guitar sound you prefer, (distortion, clean, acoustic, etc). You’re the one in the spotlight, all eyes and ears are focused on how you tell your story over these tracks so remember to dig deep and enjoy yourself!
Side notes from the composer: Relax, don’t over crowd the mind with complicated techniques, “sing” the notes with your heart and represent it with the notes you play on your instrument. This does not mean that techniques & skills are not important, because they are important, however these backing tracks will help you to learn to use your skills in a wise and meaningful way. |
